JELI, May 10 (Bernama) -- If Perak is known for its majestic Pulau Banding and its lake, Kelantan's answer is Tasik Pergau, which offers nothing less than what the former can give to nature lovers.

Apart from the immense flora and fauna found on both islands, the other similarity is that the two lakes are man-made, due to the construction of the respective hydroelectric dams at Temenggor and Pergau.

Tasik Pergau may fall behind Tasik Banding in terms of popularity, but the former is reported to have received more than 30,000 visitors.

The lakes enchanting natural beauty has never failed to draw visitors not only from neighbouring nations like Singapore and Thailand, but those from as far as Europe and Japan.

Peace and tranquility at Tasik Pergau tempts tourists to spend their vacation there and there are reports that the lake has being a regular annual stopover for many of the foreign visitors.

BATU PAHAT, March 31 (Bernama) --The gambus, is a stringed instrument played by plucking at the strings with a plastic plectrum, much like the guitar.

It is primarily the lead melodic instrument in Malay music genres such as the Arabian influenced zapin, masri and hamdolok, and the Indian inspired ghazal -- all of which are normally performed at Malay weddings and religious festivals.
